With the Autumn days creeping up on us already and the shops already beginning to stock (dare we say it…) the Christmas merchandise, it won’t be long before we are all reaching for the comfy knits, turning the heating up a bit higher and enjoying the long winter months.

Norfolk and it’s stunning countryside and unspoilt beaches really does come into its own during the winter months and with so much to do, you won’t know where to begin!

Go for a walk

With the glistening frost in the winter sun there are over 1200 miles of walkways.

Why not try the Norfolk Coast Path which will take you from Hunstanton to Sea Palling.

 

See a Show

Norfolk loves a show, and even more so in the winter months. Our next winter day out is for you to enjoy one of the fabulous Norfolk shows.

Thursford puts on one of the biggest Christmas shows each year but there is also shows put on at Cromer Pier, Gorleston Pavilion and Norwich Theatre Royal for you to enjoy.

Experience the Railway

We are so lucky that Norfolk has a fantastic railway which takes you through the glorious countryside (while you sit in a nice warm carriage!) and getting out to experience it is next up on our winter days out guide.

In recent years there are many popular seasonal trains such as the Mid Norfolk Railway Polar Express Train, the North Norfolk Railways line, which takes you from Sheringham to Holt, and you never know you may even spot the big man in the red coat yourself!

 

Shopping in Norwich

Get all of the Christmas shopping ticked off the list with our next winter day out in Norfolk. A day out shopping in Norwich is a must. Experience the elaborate Christmas decorations, stop somewhere for a quick hot chocolate and explore some of Norwich’s bespoke independent shops. There is also ample shopping opportunities in the Royal Arcade, Intu Chapelfield, Norwich Market and the Castle Mall.

Wildlife

One of the most exciting winter days out in Norfolk has to be getting out and seeing the stunning Norfolk wildlife up close and personal.

From the deer safari’s at Holkham Hall, to the swans at Welney Wetland Centre, the seals at Horsey and the wild ponies of Thetford Forest you will have an amazing winter day out in Norfolk experiencing all of the beautiful animal residents in their seasonal glory!
