Located in the picturesque grounds of the University of East Anglia and home to some of the most iconic pieces of art of late, as well as having scenes for Avengers; Infinity War (and others) filmed here, it isn’t hard to see why we love the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and why you should too!

Collections

With a number of collections from Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon and Edgar Degas, to name a few, we’re shown the versatility of the Sainsbury Centre. Its pieces, many of which were donated by Lord and Lady Sainsbury, span over 5,000 years of human creativity!

From abstract to art noveau to even the architecture of the building itself there is so much on offer.

Modern Life Café

After you have explored some of the art on display then what better way to tackle a break than with an afternoon tea or hot meal? The Modern Life Café has it all, as well as a stunning view of the sculpture garden on the lawns. You can also find a Kofra Café near the gallery shop which has a number of speciality coffees for you to try and even offers takeaway! Coffee, cake, this is why we love the Sainsbury Centre and you should too!

Family Friendly

Gone are the days art galleries were only for the most serious of art buffs, now they are placed to begin to introduce and immerse your family into the world of art. There are usaully family friendly events every month where you can go explore an artist’s studio with the children, a mini studio for pre-school children to get involved in a sensory workshop and many more opportunities on offer. It really makes art accessible to all, another reason why we love the Sainsbury Centre, and soon you will too!

Outdoor Sculpture Trail

One of the main reasons we love the Sainsbury Centre is because of the amazing sculpture trail it boasts. Situated in over 350 acres of parkland and housing sculptures from the greats, such as Henry Moore and Anthony Gormley, it is easy to get lost for an afternoon in this inspiring place. Don’t forget to look for some of the resident wild rabbits, and abundance of flora/ fauna as well!

We could go on about why we love the Sainsbury Centre and why you should too, but we recommend going to experience it for yourself!
