Now that the sun’s finally shining and shining hard – we’ll bet you’ve all been craving ice cream! In that case, Norwich is one of the best cities to be, with all of these delicious contenders serving up some seriously good scoops.

Lakenham Creamery

If you want a treat that’s the creme of the crop, why not do something a bit special and visit the Lakenham Creamery factory shop on Trafalgar street? Just outside the well known factory, all 24 flavours are on offer, plus it stocks the Aldous range you might be aware of from the East of England Co-op.

Ronaldo’s

Famous in Norwich, you can find Ronaldo’s sorbets and ice creams in a range of cafes across Norwich, including UEA’s own Unio cafe. But to get the real local flavour you should pick up a cone from the Barrow on London street. We’d recommend the Norfolk apple crumble made with Norfolk apples, and the harder to find but still delicious Cointreau and orange.

The Ice Cream Parlor on the Market

This is one of the most popular stalls on the market, serving aldous ice cream and the iconic Mr Whippy. It’s also one of the best places to take any friends or family with extra dietary requirements, as they also have dairy free sorbets and both gluten free and diabetic friendly cones.

Sundaes Gelato

Sundaes is special for its late night offerings – it’s perfect for a surprise date after work as it’s open way all the way till 11pm at night! With flavours reaching from Kinder Bueno to Jammy Dodger, it also offers an indulgent selection of waffles, crepes and of course some spectacular sundaes!

Cafe Gelato

Well known and well loved, this is a small but mighty shop that packs a lot of punch into simple flavours. On a hot day, you can often see the queue coming from all the way at the top of the road. Owned by friendly Italians, with their ice cream proving popular enough to land a spot on Deliveroo – go there when you see the sun shining! The salted caramel and earl grey flavours are particularly delicious.
